ANJANJAVY,AN ENCHANTED WORLD TO RELAX

7 Days

Overview

Nestled on a peninsula in north-west Madagascar, the Anjajavy protected area looks like a lost paradise. With its fine sandy beaches, turquoise sea and exceptionally rich nature reserve, this fishing village is the starting point for walks among imposing tsingy and century-old baobab trees, accompanied by brown lemurs and Sifaka. You’ll have the chance to marvel at the mushroom islets and admire a sunset from the mangroves.

Observations of Anjajavy’s animal and plant species demonstrate its biological richness, with some 30 critically endangered species, 14 endangered and 13 vulnerable to extinction. Inventories show the presence of over 134 distinct bird species in the reserve. It is one of the best places to see the Madagascan eagle, crested ibis andsacred ibis.

The climate creates the perfect environment for gem-colored geckos and chameleons. Snake enthusiasts will be able to observe species such as the strange leaf-nosed snake or the large Madagascar boa. Sea turtles regularly come to lay their eggs on the beaches, and the hatchlings are an unforgettable sight. The Anjajavy protected area is home to 12 species of marine mammals, including whales, and land mammals such as the Fossa Cryptoprocta Ferox, Madagascar’s largest carnivorous mammal.
